RED-CARPET AT THE GRAMMYS

On the weekend of January 28, 2010, Hollywood welcomed some of Washington, DC’s promising young artists as 2010 Grammy Nominees, included in this group was Christylez Bacon. For his work with Cathy & Marcy, Christylez was nominated for Best Musical Album for Children and was invited to perform at the Grammy Museum with other Children’s Music nominees. Although Ziggy Marley won the award, Christylez was honored to be amongst so many greats, “I had an amazing experience performing with Cathy & Marcy and I was humbled by the experience.” Chris also received a Grammy nominee medallion at the Nominee Reception.

In preparation for this stellar weekend, Christylez had quite a bit of press coverage; three television interviews in one week for NBC4, WUSA 9 and WJLA News Channel 8; he was also featured in KidsPost with The Washington Post.

On the infamous Red Carpet, Chris was priveledged to meet Doug E Fresh and also walked the Red Carpet with likes of T-Pain, Usher, Dave Matthews Band & Beyonce who “Shut that joint DOWN!” in the words of Christylez himself. Christylez guests of honor included friends from Strathmore and one of the families that sung the call & response parts on the nominated album.

The Grammy afterparty, which was held at the LA Convention Center and hosted by the Cirque de Soleil, was probably just as fun as the awards cerimony itself, “My friends and I turned the after-party out, putting folks on to the electric slide! It was a fun & educational experience.”
